The best chance for stronger storms will be northwest of downtown, including parts of southeast Indiana and west-central Ohio. Wednesday starts with a few leftover showers before turning mostly dry for much of the day. Sunshine and increasing humidity will help recharge the atmosphere ahead of the next storm system. An isolated strong storm cannot be ruled out between roughly 3 and 6 p.m., again mainly northwest of downtown. Most of the Tri-State should remain dry through the afternoon.
Attention then turns to Wednesday night and Thursday morning, when the highest-impact weather of the week is expected. An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) covers much of the region as a line of strong to severe storms pushes through between about 11 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday. All hazards are on the table, including damaging wind, large hail, flash flooding and a few strong tornadoes. Because much of this threat occurs overnight, now is the time to make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings…
