Jamaican eatery Island Frydays expands with new eatery, nightlife lounge

Beloved Jamaican restaurant Island Frydays is back in business.

The eatery’s first location, opened in 2009, was a treasured community staple on Short Vine before closing at the very end of 2024; owner Leo Morgan acknowledged at the time that the business was struggling during COVID and temporarily transitioned to a food truck model. Now, Morgan is reopening the restaurant in College Hill, and their business is bigger and better than ever.

In a 5,200 sq. ft. location, Island Frydays will serve their Jamaican staples that Cincinnatians have grown to know and love, alongside a full-scale catering business and a brand-new nightlife lounge titled the “Paradise Room” that will feature indoor and outdoor seating…
