Clarksville budget fails again despite nearly $700K in cuts to lower proposed tax rate

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — After more than three hours of debate and budget amendments, the Clarksville City Council once again rejected a proposed budget that includes a property tax increase.

Council members spent much of the meeting looking for ways to reduce spending and lower the proposed tax rate. Finance officials estimated the changes made during the meeting cut roughly $697,000 from the budget proposal, reducing the proposed tax rate by about one cent.
