HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Despite the scorching hot weather, the community came out to enjoy the sixth day of the 75th Western Kentucky State Fair which included a hot dog eating contest and more fair fun alongside some traditional eats provided by local organizations.

Alex Phipps, Junior Auxiliary President, spoke to Christian County Now about the nonprofit’s continued role in the fair. Founded in 1950, the volunteer-based women’s organization currently has 36 members. Their fair setup, also known as the “Pink Booth”, sells made-to-order food to raise money each year.

These funds go directly back into the community in various ways including through their annual Charity Ball, Breakfast with Santa, monthly donations to organizations and more. Phipps said, “If we see a need we are there to serve.”

Junior Auxiliary is one of many local nonprofits that are serving up fair favorites in a row of colorful booths. Also represented is Christian County 4-H, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Jaycees and more…
