Since Vanderbilt Health acquired Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital (VCH), Vanderbilt Emergency Sango, and associated physician practices in February, patients from across the community have experienced the benefits of being part of a growing academic health system. Being part of the Vanderbilt Health network in Montgomery County has reinvigorated care available to patients while advancing Vanderbilt Health’s commitment to serving people throughout Middle Tennessee and the surrounding region.
Community leaders and local organizations in Clarksville are embracing Vanderbilt Health’s presence. “People are genuinely welcoming and excited we’re here,” said Randy Davis, MBA, President of VCH. “Whether attending local Chamber or YMCA board meetings, everyone is eager to connect, introduce us to fellow community members, and share their excitement for having Vanderbilt in Clarksville.”
Elevating standards and expanding access
The warm community reception is matched by the enthusiasm of hospital and clinic staff, who now have access to the backing, tools and world-class protocols of an academic medical center at their fingertips. Local care teams are implementing research-backed processes across clinical specialties, from cardiology to trauma care. Improved access to clinical expertise and increased system support recently allowed Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital to expand some existing services while laying the groundwork for additional services in the future. The goal is to eliminate or lessen the need for long trips down the highway to Nashville for critical or highly specialized care.
Investing in our facilities and care teams
Since February, Vanderbilt Health has invested over $30 million in improving employee, patient and visitor experiences and advancing care for the growing Clarksville region. This includes investments to expand clinical programs in surgery, neurology and specialized care, as well as to add patient beds. So far, 1,200 new computers and 400 additional wireless access points have been added to enhance connectivity.
Hospital leadership has bolstered recruitment efforts to meet continued needs. More than 100 new employees have been hired, adding crucial roles such as nurses; surgical, radiology and respiratory techs; laboratory personnel; patient care support team members; customer service specialists; and security staff. Davis estimates VCH is adding approximately 40 new employees every two weeks and is attracting new candidates with competitive pay increases, modern facilities and the connectedness of the Vanderbilt Health system.
