PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater man was arrested after troopers said he led the Florida Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase on U.S. Highway 19 North on Monday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a trooper watched as a Ford Mustang driver, who was later identified as 22-year-old Garrett Evans, sped by at a high speed near Ulmerton Road around 11:45 a.m.

The trooper, who was in an unmarked Dodge Charger, tried to catch up to the Mustang, but the driver continued in a “willful and wanton disregard” for others, according to an arrest report.
