Downtown Clearwater businesses look ahead to county redevelopment plans

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Pinellas County is preparing to vacate and redevelop 17 county-owned properties in downtown Clearwater, a project county officials say is aimed at bringing mixed-use development to the area for residents, businesses and visitors.

More than 30 parcels make up the 17 properties the county plans to transform. The county has invited developers to submit proposals for the redevelopment, and officials said the project is expected to be completed in phases.

Blaine Williams, Assistant County Administrator for Pinellas County, said the goal is “a mixed-use redevelopment that activates downtown Clearwater, that has something for residents, businesses and visitors.”…
