Pinellas County Traffic Alert: Massive Wave Of Lane Closures Slated For Major Commuter Routes Next Week

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers across Pinellas County will need to plan for extra travel time next week as the Florida Department of Transportation rolls out a heavy schedule of roadwork. Starting Sunday, June 21, and running through Saturday, June 27, multiple major routes—including Interstate 275, US 19, and Gandy Boulevard—will see overnight, daytime, or round-the-clock lane closures.

Commuters using Interstate 275 will face disruptions both on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and through north St. Petersburg. Nighttime lane closures on the Skyway Bridge are scheduled from Sunday, June 21, through Friday, June 26, between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Further north, southbound lanes on I-275 from Roosevelt Boulevard (Exit 30) to 54th Avenue North (Exit 26) will close overnight from Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.

US 19 is also seeing a heavy concentration of overnight work. Three separate stretches of the highway will have lane closures from Sunday night through Thursday night.

Drivers can expect closures from Tampa Road to Tarpon Avenue from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., while the segments from Main Street to Curlew Road and from Whitney Road to Main Street will close lanes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m…
