Florida Man Smiles While Asking for Death Penalty After Murdering, Dismembering Teen

A Florida man smiled in court as he explained why he wanted to be put to death for the brutal murder of a teenager.

“I would prefer the death penalty,” Steven Gress said, beaming while addressing a Pinellas County judge. “Life or death is a lose-lose. If I went to trial, I believed that I would be convicted. I wouldn’t want to waste the court’s time…this is what I want to do.”

Gress, 37, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering 16-year-old Miranda Corsette though he denied directly causing her death…
