ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Pinellas County Schools is in the process of its final round of community meetings for the district’s Planning for Progress Initiative, a plan to help manage county-wide low enrollment.
Seven schools have been selected as possible closures, as well as some others that could be consolidated.

“We don’t take any of these lightly. This is the most miserable experience we can go through. We don’t want to close schools,” said Stephanie Woodford, the Pinellas County Schools Deputy Superintendent, during a meeting at Bear Creek Elementary Monday.
