Family shares story behind resurfaced Dunedin memorial bench found in Bermuda

DUNEDIN, Fla. — A memorial bench washed away from the Dunedin Causeway during Hurricane Helene has been found more than 1,000 miles away on the coast of Bermuda, according to the family of the man it honored.

The bench was dedicated to Medhat “Mike” Sadiku, who died in 2012 when his daughter, Amanda Sadiku, was in seventh grade. In 2018, Amanda Sadiku’s aunt, who lives in Clearwater, had the bench placed on the causeway as a place for the family to remember him.

“My dad always said, ‘It’ll be all right.’ So we thought that that would be perfect to put on the bench,” Amanda Sadiku said. “It’ll be all right. My dad said that for absolutely everything.”…
