More than 250 cases of locally acquired dengue have been reported this year in Florida, according to the Florida Department of Health’s Weekly Arbovirus Surveillance Report, with some in South Florida counties.
The report for the period from Sept. 20 through Sept. 26 says that “252 cases of locally acquired dengue and 20 mosquito pools have been reported from seven counties” in 2026. From Sept. 20 through Sept. 26 alone, 62 cases of locally acquired dengue were reported in Florida.
Hillsborough County, home of Tampa, saw 223 of the 252 reported dengue cases this year. Miami-Dade County saw eight, Orange County saw three, Palm Beach County saw one, Pasco County saw three, Pinellas County saw 13 and Polk County saw one dengue case…
