Clearwater man arrested after alleged racing, excessive speeding and DUI: Affidavits

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Clearwater man is facing multiple charges, including DUI, after he was pulled over for exceeding 100 mph on U.S. 19, affidavits say.

The arrest reports say this happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday when a police officer witnessed 48-year-old Marcus Denson racing another vehicle at 115 mph in a 55 mph zone in the area of U.S. 19 frontage road near Whitney Road.

Once the officer was able to pull Denson over, he reportedly showed signs of impairment, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage, bloodshot and watery eyes, eyelid tremors and swaying while standing…
