ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Investigators have made an arrest in a case 10 Investigates first told you about two years ago. 10 Investigates started looking into the case after Nikita Jones came to us back in 2024, saying she was left homeless after getting an eviction notice. She didn’t understand it because the notice wasn’t in her name. It was issued for another woman named “Aneese Maxwell”, but investigators say Maxwell also went by the aliases “Angel East” and “Annise Maxwell.”
They say her real name is Angie Walton.
A warrant for Walton’s arrest says she falsely represented herself to prospective tenants, saying she could get them into properties she managed. The tenants would be people who normally wouldn’t qualify for a rental unit because of their credit.
The warrant says she’d charge them a signing fee and then secure a lease. According to investigators, she’d do this by falsely signing paperwork claiming to be “Annese Maxwell” to the actual property owner, even providing fake bank statements and pay stubs. Upon securing the lease and the keys, she’d then turn it over to the prospective tenant, but never told them they were not on the lease. In some cases, she would tell the tenant the rent was higher than it actually cost…
