PHOTOS: Clearwater officers rescue baby opossum found wandering alone

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — Officers in Clearwater responded to a “unique animal call” on Sunday after a man reported a baby opossum was following him, according to police.

The Clearwater Police Department posted photos of an officer with the tiny opossum.

CPD said the baby opossum wandered up to the man in the 1400 block of Monroe Avenue, who said he did not see an adult opossum in the area.

“He called us, saying it seemed like the baby thought he was the dad and wanted to surrender custody to us,” the police department said.
