E-bikes are taking over Ohio’s sidewalks and nobody seems to know what to do about it

Ohio communities are trying to rein in the proliferation of e-bikes on sidewalks, streets and trails, but Today in Ohio podcast hosts wondered if the problem has become so big as to be a crisis.

Thursday’s discussion started with Rocky River, where City Council is discussing potential e-bike legislation. Laura Johnston, who lives in Rocky River, noted that the issue came up organically after the mayor met with a Girl Scout troop — and the kids brought up golf carts almost as quickly as e-bikes.
