Damaging winds, hail possible as storms return to Northeast Ohio Saturday

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio will get one more dry day Friday before thunderstorms return Saturday, bringing the potential for severe weather during the afternoon and evening.

Friday will feel more summerlike as warmer air and humidity build across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland. Showers and isolated thunderstorms could move in late Friday night, but the stronger storm threat is expected Saturday.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Northeast Ohio under a Level 2 of 5 “slight risk” for severe storms Saturday. Damaging wind gusts will be the main concern, although large hail and a tornado or two cannot be ruled out, according to the weather service…
