‘Special part of our zoo’: Cleveland Metroparks Zoo mourns death of black bear

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo shared Friday afternoon that one of its black bears died.

The zoo said the North American black bear, V, was euthanized because of old age, declining health and reduced quality of life.

In a post on social media, the zoo looked back at V’s life and shared fond memories, including how she earned her name from the distinctive white V-shaped marking on her chest.

The zoo said V was “a special part of our Zoo for 20 years.”…
