‘Like compound interest’ – Cleveland Heights could start thinning its deer herd in 2027

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — City Council will have regional deer management — and possibly other animal control programs — in its sights during 2027 budget sessions later this year.

Before that, residents can expect a public hearing in late July or early August, with presentations from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Cleveland Metroparks.

The format will resemble a town hall held last April, with a Metroparks official offering some history of how the deer population came back with a vengeance from the point of virtual extinction in Ohio…
