CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Nearly 400 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Health, and health officials say pools and splash pads may be a source of spread in addition to produce.
Tom Fink with the Cuyahoga County Board of Public Health said the parasite’s resistance to standard pool chemicals is what makes aquatic environments a concern.
“When it comes to the aquatic environment or the pool, it is a spore-forming parasite, so it can be resistant to chlorine unfortunately,” Fink said…
