Thousands without power after stormy weather

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Several thousand customers are in the dark Saturday afternoon after a round of strong storms moved through Northeast Ohio.

FirstEnergy’s outage map showed more than 12,000 outages around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 22, including nearly 4,000 in Stark County.

Current numbers in Northeast Ohio’s hardest hit areas include:

  • Cuyahoga County: 2,342
  • Lake County: 2,645
  • Portage County: 2,581
  • Stark County: 3,965

Additional rounds of rain and storms – which could bring heavy downpours and strong winds – are expected through the evening.
