CLEVELAND, Ohio — Operation Northern Shield’s 619 arrests were not limited to eight one-week city surges or to investigations launched specifically for the federal crackdown. The U.S. Marshals Service says arrests counted throughout the operation’s May 17-July 18 run, including cases that began before it started.
Federal agencies also had to clarify two conflicting figures in written materials: 684 referred to warrants cleared, not people arrested, and the correct amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy and fentanyl seized was 1.317 kilograms, not 317 kilograms.
