NEW IBERIA, La. (WJW) – A missing Louisiana teenager’s body was found dismembered in a river in January. Now, a man she met online has been charged with her murder.
According to a press release from the West Monroe Police Department , it was reported that a body was floating on the Ouachita River just after 2 p.m. on January 24.

Deputies with the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered the body but found only a torso.
“The remains were sent for an autopsy and the findings led to the case being listed as a homicide,” the press release said. “During the investigation, the remains were positively identified through DNA testing.”
The body was identified as 19-year-old Sheryl Turner , who was reported missing by her twin sister .
According to the release , forensic data found that Turner engaged in a romantic relationship over text with someone from West Monroe, La. Her family told police she left New Iberia to stay with a person she met online.
