I-Team: Deal in place to save CMSD teacher jobs from layoffs

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The FOX 8 I-Team has learned of a deal in place that could save as many as 60 Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) teachers from getting laid off.

CMSD recently announced a total of 410 layoffs including teachers and employees in other jobs.

But, the I-TEAM recently revealed, the teacher’s union president had been meeting with the District CEO looking for ways to save some of the jobs.

Now, we’ve learned of a plan to offer dozens of teachers new positions as long-term subs. They would keep their full pay and benefits and keep a job at least through the next school year…
