Guardians public address announcer Bob Tayek dies: ‘Voice of Progressive Field’

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Guardians announced that Cleveland baseball’s longtime public address announcer, Bob Tayek, died on Tuesday.

“For nearly three decades, Bob was the voice of Progressive Field, welcoming generations of fans to Cleveland baseball with warmth, professionalism and a presence that became part of the ballpark experience,” the team wrote on X.

Back in April, the team confirmed that Tayek, who was in his 27th season as the public address announcer, was taking some time away from the ballpark because of “recent health issues.”
