These Cleveland companies helped build the first Navy warship commissioned in Ohio

The new USS Cleveland is representing the Ohio city, not only in name but also in its construction, with contributions from several companies throughout Greater Cleveland.

In an announcement about the USS Cleveland’s arrival in North Coast Harbor this week, Greater Cleveland Partnership named the numerous local companies that contributed materials and expertise to the construction of the 378-foot naval vessel, including global paint giant Sherwin-Williams.

Lincoln Electric torches were used for welds involved in building the ship, while steel was provided by Cleveland-Cliffs. Various components were sourced from Parker Hannifin, TransDigm, Swagelok and Eaton. Additionally, the Navy used Hellan Strainer Company’s water filtration systems…
