Cavs throw away goodwill with inexcusable no-show that sets stage for Game 7

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The goodwill lasted less than 48 hours.

After what seemed like a watershed moment during this Cavs era — ripping away Game 5 with a gutsy, character-building comeback that gave Cleveland a 3-2 series lead, one win from the Eastern Conference finals — this vexing team no-showed Friday night, being pummeled by the Pistons, 115-94.

“Give them credit. They were the better team. Sometimes it’s that simple,” Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said of Detroit. “I’ve seen this movie before. It’s hard. It should be hard. The good thing is we put ourselves in position to have a Game 7 and now we have to close it out in Game 7.”…
