Colorado Springs peak electric rates increase for summer

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — If you use Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities), you’ll be paying more on your electric bill during peak power use times. The company’s Energy Wise summer rates went into effect on Monday, June 1, meaning customers will see an electric rate increase, but only during four hours in the evening.

Alex Trefry, a spokesperson for Springs Utilities, said with Energy Wise rates, there are separate on-peak and off-peak rates.

During on-peak hours, which Springs Utilities said is between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays, customers’ electric bills will increase from about $0.15 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to about $0.29 per kWh…
