(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It’s been 40 years since a sleeping baby disappeared from his crib in Colorado Springs. On July 15, 1986, seven-month-old Christopher Abeyta was taken in the middle of the night from his family’s home on Ashwood Circle, near Quail Lake in the southwest part of the city. After four decades, his family is still searching for answers.
“You’re fighting for an innocent seven-month-old who didn’t deserve this, and the truth has to come to light,” said Denise Alves, Christopher’s older sister. Denise was just 15 years old when her baby brother disappeared. “He fell asleep in my arms, and my mom said, ‘Let’s go take him upstairs,’ and that was the last time I saw my brother.”
