(COLORADO SPRINGS/PUEBLO, Colo.) — July wrapped up warmer than average across Southern Colorado, with both Colorado Springs and Pueblo finishing the month above their typical temperatures.
In Colorado Springs, the average temperature for July was 74.5 degrees, which is 2.1 degrees above the normal monthly average of 72.4 degrees. The hottest day of the month came on July 26, when the city reached 98 degrees, while the coolest morning was July 10 with a low of 52 degrees. Colorado Springs also recorded 1.46 inches of rain during the month. While that wasn’t an exceptionally wet July, and is 1.66 inches below the normal for water in the month of July, the rainfall did provide some beneficial moisture after ongoing concerns about dry conditions earlier this summer.
Pueblo experienced an even warmer month. The city averaged 79.9 degrees in July, compared to the normal average of 77.2 degrees, putting the month 2.7 degrees above average. The hottest temperature recorded in Pueblo was a scorching 107 degrees on July 26, while the coolest temperature was 53 degrees on July 3. Pueblo finished the month with 1.43 inches of rainfall, which is only 0.46 inches less than the expected amount.
Overall, July featured several stretches of above-average heat, highlighted by the late-month heat wave that pushed temperatures close to 100 degrees in Colorado Springs and well above the 100-degree mark in Pueblo.
