(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC), in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs’ Keep It Clean COS initiative, joined the community on Saturday, Aug. 20, in a community cleanup along Spring Creek off South Academy, near Airport Road.
Volunteers gathered for several hours to remove litter and debris from the area, helping protect water quality, protect sensitive habitats, and restore the beauty of an important natural corridor.
The cleanup took place as the Spring Creek area is being considered for significant restoration work. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a report for public review, evaluating potential improvements, including slope stabilization, in-stream enhancements, and native plants.
