Pickup truck backs into unmarked police cruiser: CSPD

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — An unmarked police cruiser was taken out of service after a pickup backed into the cruiser near South Nevada Avenue on Friday, Aug. 28, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

On Friday at around 11:30 a.m., officers were in the South Nevada corridor in an unmarked Ford Interceptor. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a white colored pickup truck. CSPD said the truck quickly turned from northbound Nevada Avenue into a motel parking lot in the 1600 block of S. Nevada Ave south of I-25.

The pickup hit a Tesla parked in the lot, then backed up and hit the front end of the unmarked cruiser. Neither the officers nor the driver of the pickup truck were injured in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was cited for a number of traffic violations…
