(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The votes are in! The new grizzly bear cubs at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) have finally received their new names. The female cub’s name is Scout, and the male cub’s name is Ranger, according to CMZoo.
CMZoo said that Scout and Ranger are named after the people and organizations working to protect and preserve grizzlies and their native habitats. In addition to choosing names, CMZoo’s conservation fund and generous guests raised a grand total of $18,000 for wild grizzly bear conservation.

In June 2026, two orphaned grizzly bear cubs arrived at CMZoo from Montana and became the first orphaned grizzlies at CMZoo in more than 20 years. Their mother was euthanized after a long history of conflicts with humans and attractants.
