(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The In Their Honor Veterans Day Parade Committee announced Rosie the Riveter as Grand Marshal for November’s parade and, to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary, is inviting 250 women to be “Rosies” to lead the parade.
Organizers said Rosie symbolizes the values of strength, hard work, and perseverance demonstrated by a generation of American women who rolled up their sleeves and went to work in the factories that powered the military during World War II.

“She is an icon in American history. She represents the hard work and the resilience and the dedication of a generation of women who rolled up their sleeves and went to work in America’s factories during World War II,” said Andy Koen, Public Relations Director for O’Donnell and O’Donnell. “That era paved the way for widespread changes of female inclusion in the American workplace as we know it today.”
The parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, starting at around 11 a.m. The traditional parade route will move along Tejon Street from St. Vrain to Vermijo. Road closures will start at 9 a.m. around the parade route and reopen at 1 p.m…
