Colorado Springs City Council approves zoning plan for over 1,000 acres in Banning Lewis Ranch area

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — The Colorado Springs City Council approved a zoning plan for over 1,000 acres in the Banning Lewis Ranch area.

Under the new plan, the area could see some major new features as more than 1,100 acres will be zoned for homes and other amenities. According to the master-plan developer for the area, Oakwood Homes, nearly 5,100 homes could be built on the land.

Oakwoods Homes has been the master-plan developer for Banning Lewis Ranch since 2012, according to a press release. Oakwood Homes says the homes could be a mixture of several different housing types.
