Prolific offender wanted in several jurisdictions caught after pursuit: CSPD

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man wanted in multiple jurisdictions was tasered and arrested following a foot chase in the area of Woodmen Road and North Academy Boulevard on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD stated that at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, police responded when 35-year-old Mario Beltran, a known prolific offender, went into a retail location in the 7100 block of North Academy Boulevard. Beltran was wanted in several jurisdictions besides Colorado Springs, including Denver, Pueblo, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and CSPD’s Metro Retail Pawn Metal and Organized Crime unit was investigating him.

Detectives contacted Falcon Patrol, the K9 Unit, and the Real Time Crime Center to assist. When Beltran left the store, law enforcement issued lawful orders, but he sprinted away through the parking lot. Police chased him and tasered him before catching him and taking him into custody, according to CSPD…
