The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner, SEMA Construction, recently finished a three-year project to add auxiliary acceleration and deceleration lanes in both directions along I-25 between Fillmore Street and Garden of the Gods Road in El Paso County near Colorado Springs.

Those improvements – which are part of Colorado DOT’s 10-year Strategic Plan Pipeline, launched in 2020 – included resurfacing I-25, curve slope adjustments to improve roadway drainage, the addition of concrete median barrier, and several safety-critical bridge improvements; especially the reconstruction and widening of the I-25 bridges over Ellston Street and repairs to the bridge deck on the Garden of the Gods Road overpass.
