Denver Ties Record 87 and Fort Collins Breaks Latest 90 Degree Mark as Colorado Heat Gives Way to Possible Front Range Snow Next Week

DENVER — Another October scorcher hit Colorado on Tuesday, with record-tying and record-breaking heat across the Front Range and Western Slope. Denver officially tied its daily record high of 87 degrees for the second day in a row, while Fort Collins broke its all-time record for the latest 90-degree high ever recorded in a year. Colorado Springs also set a daily record with a high of 83 degrees. Much cooler air is expected later next week, with two possible storm systems bringing mountain snow and a chance of rain or snow to the Front Range.

Denver Ties Daily Record for Second Straight Day

Denver reached 87 degrees officially, tying the daily record high for the second consecutive day. Downtown Denver was even warmer, reaching 91 degrees during the afternoon.

The heat was especially strong across the lower elevations of the Front Range. Temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 were common across the metro area and eastern plains.

Fort Collins Sets Record for Latest 90-Degree Day

Fort Collins broke its all-time record for the latest 90-degree high temperature in a calendar year. It marked the second day in a row the city set that milestone.

Colorado Springs also broke its daily record with a high of 83 degrees. Pueblo reached 90 degrees, while Grand Junction climbed to 86 on the Western Slope.
