UCCS classes remain cancelled through Monday as the double-homicide investigation continues

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A shooting occurred at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on early Friday morning. UCCS Dispatch received a call for shots fired in a dorm room on campus. UCCS Police responded and arrived on the scene five minutes after the call was made, the Colorado Spring Police Department (CSPD) was contacted and shortly arrived later to assist with security and the investigation. Upon arrival the UCCS police discovered two individuals deceased each with at least one gunshot wound. At this point the campus had underwent a lockdown, shortly after the discovery the UCCS Police handed the investigation off to the CSPD. Classes were cancelled for the day and the lockdown and shelter-in place were lifted. The Alpine Village dorm was on lockdown for a little longer to preserve evidence and to speak to witnesses.
