CSPD: Officers find assault suspect hiding under bed

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers responded to a report of a man attacking someone on the street around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. They tracked the suspect to a nearby motel, where they found him hiding under a bed.

Officers arrived at the scene on West Colorado Avenue, near 27th Street in Old Colorado City, and detained the suspect, who had two active warrants, police said.

According to police, the suspect attempted to run while being taken into custody. He tried to escape again as officers placed him in a patrol car, during which an officer suffered a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

Both the officer and the suspect were treated at a hospital. The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Buffa, faces multiple charges, including assaulting the officer.
