(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A new baby giraffe is soon to join the herd at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo), shortly after his first birthday!
According to the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA), baby Thorn has been stealing hearts in Denver since his birth on March 7, 2025. Thorn marked a special occasion in Denver, as he was the first giraffe calf born at DZCA in nearly a decade.
This May, he will officially join the herd at CMZoo as part of an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan recommendation.
DZCA said Species Survival Plans like these ensure a genetically diverse, sustainable giraffe population for generations to come.
