(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — The Great American Cleanup is a nationwide movement for communities to collect trash and keep their environment clean. It took place on Saturday, May 2, and seven communities from Palmer Lake to Pueblo, in the Fountain Creek Watershed District, took part, cleaning waterways, parks, trails, and open spaces.
Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade joined the efforts as a way to kick off the Keep it Clean COS initiative. Participants gathered in 50 different locations throughout the watershed, equipped with tools and the motivation to make an impact on their community.
