Colorado Springs expert shares tips to protect plants ahead of heavy spring snow

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -As heavy, wet snow and freezing temperatures approach, gardeners can take steps to protect trees and perennial plants that have already started to grow back.

An expert at Phelan Gardens in Colorado Springs says using frost cloth or a sheet to cover plants is an option, but gardeners should use something to bear the weight of the snow. Buckets or boxes might work to provide some structure.

“Doing this beforehand, you have all your ducks in a row,” said Rylan Rodriguez of Phelan Gardens. “You have everything lined up to the point where all you got to do is implement that protection and it’s right there at your disposal.”…
