Colorado man claims Walmart’s take-and-bake bread caused hospitalization, lawsuit alleges

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Court documents show a man from Colorado Springs is suing retail giant Walmart after he claims he was hospitalized for three days in September 2025, because of a piece of bread.

Jordan Douglas alleges he suffered a gastrointestinal obstruction from eating unbaked take-and-bake bread bought from the Walmart store on Space Center Drive.

He contends that a Walmart “sell by” label obscured the product’s cooking instructions, so he did not realize the bread needed to be baked before being eaten. The lawsuit further states that Douglas ate the bread during his lunch break, subsequently going to the hospital when the unbaked bread expanded in his stomach…
