Lawmaker, school district react after possible racial slur incident

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A group of Harrison High School students are “being held accountable for their behavior” after a photo surfaced of them holding up balloons spelling the name of the country “Niger.”

State Representative Dr. Regina English, House District 17, responded to the photo on social media, saying the balloons were “arranged to mimic one of the most violently racist slurs in American history while wearing school athletic apparel and smiling for social media.”…
