(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Human Trafficking Task Force of Southern Colorado (HTTF) will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 12. This meeting will feature Vanessa Adkinson, Founder of P31 Home. She joined FOX21 Morning News on Monday morning, May 11, to talk about how the consulting organization fills in gaps when it comes to supporting victims.
“Sometimes people will be like, ‘Oh, just call the police,’ well, maybe sometimes you need a lawyer, or maybe sometimes you need to get a mental health professional involved,” said Adkinson. She added that often, human trafficking calls come in as something else. “A lot of the time those calls come in as a domestic violence, or homelessness, or some kind of drug addiction crisis intervention call, and not everyone is able to recognize, ‘Hey, this is actually human trafficking.’”
