Parking lot for Pulpit Rock to close temporarily

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services (PRCS) said on Wednesday, May 13, the North Parking Lot at Pulpit Rock will be closed while crews prepare for upcoming improvement work.

According to PRCS, the closure will be for upcoming work at Austin Bluffs Open Space. Most of the trails will remain open, but visitors may encounter crews and equipment nearby. PRCS is asking visitors to follow all posted signage and avoid active work zones.

The work is part of the Austin Bluffs Open Space Master and Management Plan and includes trailhead upgrades and new trail construction through summer 2026. During the improvement work, there will be impacts to Pulpit Rock:

  • South parking lot remains closed
  • North parking lot will have intermittent closures in the upcoming weeks
  • Some trail closures are in place during construction
  • Pulpit Rock remains accessible via Summit Trail

“We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the visitor experience at Austin Bluffs Open Space!” said PRCS…
