Colorado Springs firefighters rescue ‘distressed’ baby raccoon from storm drain after Wednesday’s rain

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs firefighters rescued a baby raccoon found alone in a storm drain Wednesday evening.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department posted on social media that one of their crews responded to rescue a baby raccoon found alone in a storm drain while it was raining. Firefighters said the baby raccoon was found “distressed.”

Firefighters said that after safely getting the baby raccoon out, they brought it back to the station and began making calls for help.

“In true firehouse fashion, the baby raccoon spent some time cozying up in a proper makeshift nursery complete with a blanket, teddy bear, and a trash can crib (appropriate for this situation),” firefighters said in their social media post.

Firefighters said they received help caring for the baby from the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter and the Catamount Wildlife Center…
