Authorities say a resident escaped unharmed, but a home is heavily damaged following a Sunday morning fire near Irmo.
The Irmo Fire District said the blaze happened in the 300 block of Bayside Road around 6:30 a.m. Arriving crews said they found heavy fire coming from a two-story home, with flames extending to nearby vegetation. Photos shared by the district showed flames rising high above the home and engulfing nearby trees.
With assistance from the Lexington County Fire Services, Irmo crews extinguished the flames. However, the home was extensively damaged, according to fire officials, and crews remained on the scene monitoring for flare-ups and hot spots for much of the early morning…
