Tuskegee football turned its long-awaited home opener into a statement victory Thursday night, knocking off previously unbeaten No. 15 Benedict 20-17 in a nationally televised SIAC battle on ESPN2.
The Golden Tigers overcame five turnovers and a fourth-quarter deficit before Khalib Johnson connected with Preston Parker for a 31-yard touchdown with 5:53 remaining, giving Tuskegee the lead for good.
